The Sr Controls Engineer is focused on improving existing and commissioning new metal processing equipment and processes, and reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive technical expertise in controls engineering, equipment design, process optimization, and troubleshooting.
This role will support both our Terrell, TX and Midway, TN plants and will require 30% travel to Midway, TN.
Job responsibilities- Maintain consistent quality, drive process efficiency, and ensure compliance with industry standards in high-volume production environments
- Assist in commissioning new equipment and in performing upgrades/retrofits to existing equipment.
- Provide troubleshooting support to the process maintenance team as needed.
- Investigate, identify, and devise solutions in areas including but not limited to equipment safety functions, reduce downtime, increase product quality, and improve process throughput.
- Address recurring process issues and machine alarming/fault indication.
- Leverage existing or create historical data points to highlight process weak points and possible improvements.
- Process Optimization:
Develop new or improve existing product recipe functions. - Data Analysis:
Leverage existing or create historical data points to highlight process weak points and suggest improvements. - Reporting:
Develop automated reports using Ignition to present historical data in a meaningful and accurate manner. - Project Planning:
Advise and assist with capital project planning and execution.
- 5+ Years of experience working as a controls engineer or in a similar equivalent position.
- Bachelor of Science in electrical, mechanical, industrial, or other relevant fields of study OR equivalent work experience.
- Working knowledge of industrial control system platforms including Allen Bradley PLC, HMI, VFD, and other control component configuration.
- Working knowledge of current relevant industry design standards and codes such as NFPA, ANSI, ISO, etc.
