Recruitment Resourcer @ Ellaway Blues Consulting | Human Resources Management
We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Materials Engineer with deep expertise in physical metallurgy and diffusion-based process development for one of our clients based in Dallas, TX. Our client is a rapidly growing business in the advanced manufacturing and sustainable technology sector. The Senior Engineer will play a critical role in guiding the business through its next phase of technology development, integration, and scale, with a specific focus on grain boundary diffusion (GBD) technologies.
This role will lead the development and optimization of advanced manufacturing technologies aimed at enhancing magnetic properties through interface engineering, diffusion treatments, and tailored thermal processing. Working closely with laboratory, pilot-scale, and production teams, this position will translate fundamental materials understanding into scalable manufacturing solutions. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in returning an essential manufacturing capability to the US.
Responsibilities- Lead experimental projects, overseeing project planning, execution, and delivery of the development and optimization of GBD processes at the laboratory
- Design and conduct experiments to optimize new materials and processes, including but not limited to developing and refining heat treatment profiles to support GBD and microstructural control.
- Characterize microstructure and diffusion behavior using advanced materials analysis techniques such as SEM-EDS, EPMA, XRD, DSC, etc.
- Apply laboratory and pilot-scale findings to assist process scale up to production
- Mentor technicians and engineers to ensure high-quality execution of experimental trials and data collection, providing technical guidance in metallurgical materials, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development
The ideal candidate will hold a M.S. or Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgy, Physics, or a related field, with 5+ years of hands-on experience in metallurgical or ceramic processing, heat treatment, and materials characterization. They will bring a deep understanding of materials thermodynamics and diffusion kinetics, along with a demonstrated ability to connect processing, structure, and performance. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Candidates with experience in magnet manufacturing will be viewed favorably. Experience leading technical development projects, managing multiple concurrent priorities, and mentoring junior engineers or technicians is highly desirable. Familiarity with programming, modeling, or data-driven approaches to support materials understanding is a plus.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a high-growth organization with long-term career potential, working on projects of national importance. Our client offers a competitive salary and benefits package, along with strong opportunities for professional growth.
