Department SummaryThe University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position of TRIO Upward Bound Instructor for subjects: ENGLISH, SCIENCE, MATH, TECHNOLOGY and FOREIGN LANGUAGE. The University – the first four-year public institution of higher education in the city –seeks an individual who will help shape the character of a 21st century, teaching-focused university. To serve as Instructor for the Upward Bound Program during the Summer Institute. Instructors will design and deliver innovative lessons to support students from 9th – 12th grade in their academic and/or elective subjects for added learning and preparation for High School and Collegiate Studies. Instructional design and delivery is expected to be Differentiated, Innovative, Hands-On, Creative and/ or Utilize Various Technology Platforms use are encouraged.
Minimum QualificationsThe successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher with concentration in the field of learning development and/or in the assigned teaching field.
- Organizational skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective rapport with students and faculty.
- Sensitive to students’ abilities and needs.
- Be able to provide hands-on activities and research opportunities/ideas.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to utilize effective pedagogy in the classroom.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Ability to instruct and communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing.
- Familiarity with syllabus design, learning outcomes, and academic standards in education.
- Proficiency with learning management systems virtual teaching platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams), and digital tools used in education.
