About The Role: Every member of the Team & Family at KIPP Texas Public Schools plays a critical role in ensuring our students have the skills and confidence to pursue the paths they choose – college, career, and beyond. Our educators are passionate advocates for their students and families, working to ensure students have access to opportunity. The School Operations Team focuses on creating conditions for schools to thrive by driving attendance, enrollment, safety and crisis management, and exemplary customer service for students, families and staff.

The Assistant Principal of Operations (APO), a key member of the school’s Leadership Team, will lead the implementation and maintenance of clear operational systems while building a data-driven, service-oriented culture. This position is central to the realization of our mission as it provides the School Leader and APs the opportunity to focus on teaching and learning. The APO embraces innovation and continuous improvement and enjoys jumping into projects to work smarter and more efficiently, supporting instructional staff and leaders.

Role

Responsibilities

Recruits, Hires, Onboards, Develops and leads a high-performing team

  • Builds a strong and diverse team with an inclusive culture that brings out each team member’s strengths
  • Manages and develops others toward excellence and long-term development
  • Establishes ongoing cadence to facilitate collaboration, training and support of the team
  • Progress monitors execution of responsibilities with a high bar for accountability to drive operational excellence

Creates and Drives school-based strategies to ensure students are in seats daily and year over year

  • Partners with families to set attendance expectations for new and existing families
  • Ensure attendance is captured accurately every day
  • Analyzes data daily and cumulatively; engages with stakeholders weekly to identify trends and actions to improve results
  • Works with school lead teams to train, invest, motivate and implement attendance procedures
  • Partners with recruitment to execute student recruitment efforts
  • Oversees enrollment, onboarding, verification, and documentation compliance
  • Leads development and planning of cultivation efforts so both new and current families feel informed and invested

Design and continually evolve school-based operations policies and procedures such as arrival and dismissal

  • Implements an ongoing monitoring system that reviews and addresses feedback from families, teachers, and students
  • Completes safety drills, audits, and documentation on schedule
  • Ensures all staff are trained and understand day-to-day and safety procedures
  • Ensures the front office and family-facing systems are organized, welcoming, and responsive
  • Maintains regular communication rhythms with families regarding important school information

Informs and manages the school budget in partnership with the School Leader
