The Coordinator, Environmental Education at Trinity River Audubon Center (TRAC) works closely with the Center Director, Education Manager and other staff to develop and deliver high-quality environmental education and public programs, primarily on site and occasionally off site. This role supports all phases of programming, including curriculum support, instruction, program promotion, community engagement, and program logistics. Responsibilities also include program registration and scheduling, youth supervision, and stewardship activities.

This is an on‑site position based at Trinity River Audubon Center in Dallas, Texas.

$23.77 - $25.00 / hour

• In collaboration with the Center Director and Education Manager, assist with education, engagement, and stewardship opportunities that intentionally guide participants toward outcomes aligned with the National Audubon Society’s strategic plan.
• In partnership with the Center Director and Education Manager, help develop environmental education and public program curricula, including pre‑ and post‑program materials aligned with academic standards or community science goals.
• Teach academic programs for visiting school field trips and independently lead community science programs.
• Maintain accurate records of program participation and support program evaluation and assessment efforts.
• Assist with special events at the Center and lead special programming such as Girl Scout and Boy Scout badge activities.
• Collaborate with Center staff to draft and distribute flyers and social media content, market programs and events to schools and the public.
• Serve as TRAC’s point of contact for community groups, the public, teachers and school officials, and other conservation organizations. This includes verbal and written communication and responding to natural history inquiries.
• Support the Education Manager and Facilities Manager with habitat restoration and grounds maintenance, including invasive species removal, plant propagation, and leading stewardship activities with volunteers and groups.
• In collaboration with the Center Director and Education team, assist with animal care and the coordination of animal permits, including annual renewals and required reports with Texas Parks and Wildlife and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
• Support a culture of philanthropy, including participation in public funding efforts.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the Americas through joint planning and implementation of shared priorities.
• Maintain and promote a strong culture of safety.

• Bachelor’s degree in natural sciences, education, or a related field preferred.
• At least one year of teaching experience in environmental education; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Ability to teach in an active, outdoor, and physical environment.
• Strong organizational skills, initiative, sound judgment, and effective time management; ability to contribute new ideas.
• Proven experience working collaboratively with coworkers, students of all ages, educators, parents, volunteers, and the public.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
