Overview
The World Languages Department is strongly committed to preparing students to engage and thrivein a multicultural world. Students acquire not only communicative proficiency in the language of study but also knowledge,understanding, appreciation, and acceptance of other cultures.
The World Languages Department is seeking a fulltime teacher with openness to teaching a range of high school Spanish courses to students in grades 9 through 12.
Key Accountabilities- Teach five sections of Spanish courses
- Serve as an advisor to a group of students
- Engage in on-going professional learning
- Use appropriate technology
- Participate in student life
- Develop meaningful and engaging lessons that are responsive to student needs and encourage students to think deeply about their learning
- Work with peer teachers to support a culture of deep learning, model intellectual curiosity, and develop curriculum
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and others in the school community
- A deep commitment to the mission of Ursuline Academy of Dallas and its Catholic identity.
- Readiness to carry outthe
Catholic Church’smissionof ensuringtheformationof students’ faithandintellectualdevelopmentilluminedby Gospel message. - A bachelor’s degree in Spanish, or related field; further degrees are preferred
- The flexibility to teach a variety of high school Spanish courses and grade levels
- Experience with and openness to technology in the classroom.
- At least two years teaching experience in Spanish at the secondary school level and in-depth knowledge of the subject matter
- Experience with curriculum development
In addition to the above responsibilities, full-time faculty at Ursuline Academy serve as advisors, actively participate in non-academic student activities such as moderating clubs, chaperoning events, and student supervision, and enthusiastically pursue professional development opportunities as they join a Catholic, independent school culture.
