What We Are Looking For
The Senior Coordinator of Academic Success supports the mission of the university and LHSON by coordinating the LHSON Student Success Center to support the academic success of the in‑person undergraduate nursing students. They are responsible for ensuring quality academic support services, tutoring, accommodation services and other out of class student support. They coordinate academic support with faculty (and other staff) and provide academic coaching to students to enhance nursing student success.
A Bachelor’s Degree and three years of relevant experience are required. A Masters Degree and five years of experience is preferred. This position is located in Dallas, Texas.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.
What You Will DoCoordinate the Student Success Center
- Coordinate the Student Success Center. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student success staff. Serve as primary contact for student academic concerns through referrals, faculty outreach, etc. Coordinate with the Paul L. Foster Success Center. Manage success center activity data and reports. Update class/exam calendars.
Academic Coaching and Faculty Coordination
- Coordinate academic coaching to undergraduate nursing students. Help students build skills, habits, and self‑management habits necessary to succeed while promoting independence and accountability. Submit referrals to other appropriate academic support services such as tutoring centers, care management and case management services.
- Receive academic referrals and communicate academic concerns with faculty. Support faculty with academic concerns, including with student meetings. Provide LHSON faculty with feedback to improve the academic learning experience of students.
Support LHSON Accommodations
- Support the Coordinator of Academic Success’ testing accommodation coordination responsibilities and serve as backup in their absence. Liaise with the OALA office to ensure accurate and timely accommodations support is provided to students. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate accommodation proctor staff. Assist with accommodation proctoring as needed.
Tutoring and Academic Workshops
- Oversight and coordination of LHSON tutoring services. Hire, train, and evaluate student and non‑student tutors. Determine course tutoring needs and coordinating with faculty. Schedule tutoring and evaluate effectiveness. Communicate tutoring opportunities to students.
- Design and implement academic workshops to promote student success and retention. Coordinate logistics for workshops, orientations, and success programming led by Senior Coordinator.
Support Student Services & LHSON
- Support Student Services activities and initiatives such as Orientation, Preview Day, etc. and support LHSON events such as faculty meetings, CPE, White Coat, and Pinning. Perform additional administrative and event‑related duties as assigned to support the mission and operations of the School of Nursing.
