Overview
Location: US, Remote with travel. This will include live online and in-person facilitation. Candidate must work and reside within the US.
Important Requirement: This is an independent contractor position. Must be available to train 2-3 days a month, mainly Monday – Friday during business hours to complete onboarding and facilitate sessions.
Independent Contractor Overview In search of Independent Contractors with Spanish proficiency and expertise supporting Multilingual Learners to conduct professional learning services for schools and districts across the country using LETRS professional learning;
Requirements include deep background knowledge of Science of Reading, knowledge of the practical application of structured literacy, experience with Dual Immersion or ESL/ELL/ELD certification or experience, Spanish language proficiency, and a minimum of 3 years of direct teaching experience with multilingual learners.
- Deep knowledge of the science of reading, writing, language and literacy development, and implications on instructional practices with students from a variety of home language environments
- Effective presentation skills for in-person and virtual settings utilizing a variety of collaboration and engagements strategies
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Awareness of current research and trends in literacy and teacher quality
- Excellent interpersonal skills (communication, problem solving, collaboration, and sensibility to build rapport with customers and co-workers)
- Flexible with changes in direction and the ability to overcome challenges that accompany change
- Commendable work ethic, commitment to ensure quality standards are met, and unwavering commitment to excellence
- Facility with various video conferencing platforms to facilitate service delivery
- Proficiency using technology-based productivity tools including Microsoft Office, Google and other web applications
- Availability to travel as needed within a geographic region using various modes of transportation with little lead time
- Must be available to deliver sessions Monday-Friday during business hours at least 2-3 days a month. Some evening and Saturday sessions may be required. Some travel (mostly regional) may be required.
- Bachelor's degree (required) in elementary education, curriculum/instruction, speech/language pathology, education administration, school psychology, or comparable (Master’s degree preferred)
- Minimum of 8 years teaching experience
- Minimum of 5 years leadership experience (administrative, central office/ agency, teacher leader, instructional coach etc.)
- Minimum of 3+ years of direct teaching experience supporting Emergent Bilingual/ Multilingual Language Learners;
Dual Immersion experience strongly preferred - Experience delivering training (for several consecutive days) to audiences of up to 50
- Experience coaching/consulting teachers in applying best practices in classrooms with various populations of learners
- Experience navigating remote meeting platforms
- Experience in client/partnership management
- Certified or endorsed in Dual Immersion (preferred), ESL/ELL (or equivalent); or demonstrated equivalent experience in lieu of formal certification
- Demonstrated Spanish language proficiency (oral and written)
- Completion of LETRS online coursework; approximately 40 hours per Volume (self-paced with no compensation)
- Attendance and completion of live online LETRS sessions; approximately 24 hours of training (no compensation)
- Attendance at a 4-day LETRS Facilitator Training (live online or in-person; standard travel costs paid by company; no compensation)
- Observe 6 hours of training (live online)
- Co-train a 1-day training in the field (live online)
- Additional training as needed in person and via webinar
- Completion of ongoing professional learning sessions accessible in web-based platform
