Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting intensified learning experience for students in assigned area and relieve the teacher of various non-instructional duties.
- Assist teacher in management of student arrival and departure time.
- Perform supportive tasks, primarily of a non-instructional nature, for a certified.
- Assist teacher and students in achieving the objectives of the program or activities.
- Maintain discipline in the absence of the teacher.
- Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
- Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow-up learning activities.
- Help teacher supervise students throughout the day, inside and outside the classroom, including hall, lunchroom, auditorium, gym, and playground monitoring.
- Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
- Assist teacher with copying, organizing, and filing materials for distribution to students.
- Help with the inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
- Participate in staff-development training programs to improve job performance.
- Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
- Help decorate the classroom for special events, PTA meetings, holidays, etc.
- Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
- Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
- High School Diploma or USA equivalency;
Associate Degree or 48 college credit hours or pass an academic assessment;
Valid Texas educational aide certificate. - Six months of knowledge and skills acquired through work experience or successful completion of a specific training program for teacher assistants is preferred.
- Demonstrated initiative and a willingness to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Demonstrated general knowledge of child growth/development and behavior characteristics.
- Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
- Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. A remote working environment/alternate work arrangement is not an option for campus-based employees because regular and punctual attendance at the worksite and performing all duties at the worksite are essential job duties for all campus-based personnel.
SalarySalary commensurate with education and experience.
