Title I Teacher Assistant (Grades: 6-12)

Job Description

Assists in conducting learning experiences in assigned area and supports teacher in various non‑instructional duties.

• Assist teacher with classroom management and student supervision
• Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning
• Help supervise students throughout the day, inside and outside the classroom (hall, lunchroom, gym, playground)
• Maintain discipline in the teacher’s absence and keep classroom
• Prepare administrative records, copy, organize, and file materials for distribution to students
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students
• Participate in staff‑development training programs and faculty meetings
• Help decorate the classroom for special events, PTA meetings, holidays, etc
• Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned and maintain regular and punctual attendance

• High School Diploma or Texas equivalent;
  Associate Degree or 48 College credit hours, or pass an academic assessment
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate
• Six months of knowledge and skills acquired through work experience or successful completion of a specific training program for teacher assistants (preferred)
• Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and willingness to follow verbal and written instructions
• General knowledge of child growth/development, behavior characteristics, and ability to perform non‑instructional supportive tasks
• Willingness to remain current with latest developments in the profession

The noise level is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is essential.
