BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF GREATER DALLAS Position Description

Part‑time, hourly position:
Youth Development Professional (YDP) – responsibilities: daily in‑house programming, social recreation, team building, and positive relationship building with youth.

Schedule

Monday—Friday, 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Primary Function

Under the supervision of the Assistant Club Director, the YDP assists in developing and operating after‑school programs, welcoming members, aligning them to program areas and events, monitoring behavior, providing instruction, and engaging with members and parents.

Key Roles
  • Build meaningful relationships with members
  • Deliver specific program services within the clubhouse
  • Comply with operational and HR policies
  • Ensure club climate – safety, morality, guidance
  • Teach and enforce discipline, values, citizenship, manners, life skills
  • Maintain proper records and reports
  • Handle janitorial duties and equipment maintenance
  • Assist the Program Director with club operations
  • Administer membership and program registration
  • Other duties as assigned by the Club Director
  • Build positive relationships with staff, kids, parents, stakeholders, visitors, and volunteers
Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver age‑appropriate programs and activities aligned with the club’s five core areas for youth ages 6‑18.
  • Ensure safe program implementation, including equipment, facilities conditions, age appropriateness, and weather considerations.
  • Orient new members to program areas, events, club safety, and disciplinary rules.
  • Implement, monitor, and evaluate programs, services, and activities.
  • Maintain program areas clean, organized, and up to date.
  • Assume other tasks, assignments, and responsibilities as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Uphold a positive club culture with high energy and teamwork.
  • Promote participation in daily learning center programs and special events.
  • Maintain productive relationships with parents, schools, and visitors.
  • Participate in club leader meetings to ensure a productive work environment.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 18 + years old.
  • Successful background check; over 21 required for work with teens.
  • At least one year of experience working with children.
  • Minimum six months of experience or training in youth development and engaging learning experiences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavioral challenges.
  • Problem‑solving skills for day‑to‑day activities.
  • Planning and implementing quality learning programs.
  • Group management skills for varied activities.
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid certification (training provided).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Youth Development Professional.
Skills/Knowledge Required
  • Flexibility and adaptability to rapid change.
  • Sound judgment in coaching members instructionally and socially.
  • Professional leadership through communication and action.
  • Self‑control and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Competency across all club areas.
  • Friendliness, enthusiasm, energy, and creativity to motivate youth.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Basic computer skills, attention to detail, multitasking ability, and strong written and verbal communication.
