Position OverviewThis Lecturer position is a 9-month, appointment with expectations of a four-course teaching load each semester. The appointment begins January 1, 2025. The position includes teaching 12 hours (four courses) in the fall and spring semester. Additional expectations include student advisement, committee memberships, and participation in department meetings and school meeting, among others.
Responsibilities- Teaching a broad range of counseling courses, both web-based and face to face. Courses taught may include, but are not limited to:
Advanced Counseling, Practicum, Internship, Beginning Counseling Skills, Professional Orientation, Theories of Counseling, and Ethics. - Supervising clinical experiences of community and school counselors in both practicum and internship, post-graduate tracking and maintenance.
- Advising students in a Master's level CACREP program.
- Collaborating with colleagues and performing service to the university, the school, profession, and the community.
- Participating in evaluation of student learning outcomes.
- Attending university, college, department, and program meetings, participating in related community-based projects, and participating on university service committees as appointed.
- Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Counselor Education from a CACREP (The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) accredited program or equivalent.
- Proven teaching excellence in graduate instruction and demonstrated clinical competence.
- Documented professional experience and competency in working with culturally diverse populations.
- Evidence of student-oriented instruction and leadership within a collaborative environment.
Skills and Abilities
Academic experience working on a campus with culturally diverse students, staff and faculty.
Experience in working with industry-standard tools and programming languages for analytics.
Preferred Qualifications- Demonstrated clinical competence in counseling supervision.
- Professional school counseling experience.
- Familiarity with CACREP standards.
- Experience with collaborative grant development.
- Counseling skills; knowledge of statistics, diversity, and addiction.
