Department Summary

The Counseling Program at UNT Dallas shapes counselors who excel in multicultural competency and drive positive change, promoting wellness across diverse populations - from children to adults, families to schools, both locally and globally. Through two CACREP-accredited master's tracks in school counseling and mental health counseling, students receive comprehensive training under the guidance of experienced faculty who bring both clinical expertise and research credentials.

Our program delivers hands-on, evidence-based learning experiences that prepare graduates to become influential leaders and champions for diversity in their communities. Faculty members, drawing from their backgrounds as licensed practitioners and researchers, provide personalized mentorship throughout the program. UNTD Counseling graduates emerge as dedicated professionals who advocate for and serve their communities with cultural awareness and clinical excellence.



Position Overview

This Lecturer position is a 9-month, appointment with expectations of a four-course teaching load each semester. The appointment begins January 1, 2025. The position includes teaching 12 hours (four courses) in the fall and spring semester. Additional expectations include student advisement, committee memberships, and participation in department meetings and school meeting, among others.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Teaching a broad range of counseling courses, both web-based and face to face. Courses taught may include, but are not limited to:
    Advanced Counseling, Practicum, Internship, Beginning Counseling Skills, Professional Orientation, Theories of Counseling, and Ethics.
  • Supervising clinical experiences of community and school counselors in both practicum and internship, post-graduate tracking and maintenance.
  • Advising students in a Master’s level CACREP program.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and performing service to the university, the school, profession, and the community.
  • Participating in evaluation of student learning outcomes.
