Early Childhood Teacher Assistant

Akiba Yavneh Academy, a Modern Orthodox Jewish Day School, is seeking a caring and dependable Early Childhood Assistant Teacher to support our Infant and Toddler classrooms. The Assistant Teacher plays a vital role in creating a warm, nurturing environment where young children feel safe, supported, and encouraged to explore. This position is ideal for someone passionate about early learning and eager to grow professionally within a collaborative team.

• Support the Lead Teacher in implementing developmentally appropriate routines and activities.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment that meets licensing and health standards.
• Engage with children through play, caregiving routines, and meaningful conversation.
• Provide attentive, responsive care during feeding, diapering, rest time, and transitions.
• Foster a calm and respectful atmosphere that reflects the school’s values.
• Assist in observing and documenting children’s behavior and development.
• Communicate positively and professionally with families and team members.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school-wide events as required.
• Model respectful and compassionate interactions at all times.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; CDA or early childhood coursework preferred.
• Experience working with young children in a licensed early childhood setting is a plus.
• Willingness to learn from and collaborate with the Lead Teacher and early childhood team.
• Reliable, flexible, and patient demeanor with a strong work ethic.
• Ability to lift and care for infants and toddlers, and meet the physical demands of the role.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Familiarity with Jewish values and traditions is a plus, but not required.
