Medical Director, Physician - Occupational Health - Relocation

Position summary

The SOMD is responsible for overseeing the provision of Hanford Occupational Medical Services and advising DOE on medical issues.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee staff of professionals that provide clinical services.
  • Consult with clinic physician assistants (PAs) or nurse practitioners (NPs) as needed.
  • Apply appropriate DOE directives in the workplace.
  • Participate in meetings and committees, as requested.
  • Provide assessment and treatment of work-related illnesses and injuries.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures, and assist with interpretation as needed.
  • Provide urgent care of non-work-related injuries and illnesses as best supports site activities.
  • Manage and organize a team’s work to deliver with efficiency, effectiveness and accuracy while meeting budget requirements and standards of excellence for the clinic.
  • Assist with recruiting and managing physicians, nurses and other medical and non-medical staff; oversee training as executed at the clinic.
  • Fully understand the internal processes of all departments.
  • Examine and coordinate the clinic’s activities to guarantee medical quality.
Requirements Qualifications
  • Experience — minimum of three years in oversight and management of occupational medical programs of similar complexity.
  • Experience — Federal Government experience is desirable.
  • Education — Must be certified in Occupational and Environmental Medicine (OEM), Aerospace Medicine (AM), or Public Health and Preventive Medicine (PM) by the appropriate Medical or Osteopathic Medical certifying board.
  • Licensure — The SOMD shall possess a valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Washington.
  • Security and Access — Must be eligible for a DOE Access Authorization.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible Medical Doctor with or w/o US residency with current US work visa.
