The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (PCCSM) at Baylor University Medical Center-Dallas (BUMC) and The Center for Advanced Heart and Lung Diseases are seeking a Pulmonary Hypertension Specialist to lead our expanding Pulmonary Vascular Disease Program. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a nationally ranked pulmonary division and practice at a nationally known academic medical center. The Division has outstanding clinical, educational and research programs with 55 faculty and established premier clinical programs in interstitial lung diseases, lung transplant, cystic fibrosis and bronchiectasis, interventional pulmonology, asthma and COPD, mycobacterial lung disease, thoracic oncology, sleep medicine, critical care and ECMO.

BUMC is a large tertiary/qua ternary referral medical center with over 900 hospital beds, 120 intensive care beds and the Martha Foster Asthma Center. The Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic is housed within the Center for Advanced Heart and Lung Disease, a state‑of‑the‑art facility with radiology, pulmonary function lab, pulmonary rehab and a cardiopulmonary exercise lab.

This is an employed position through Health Texas Provider Network (HTPN), the Baylor Scott & White employment group in DFW. Competitive Salary, Benefit Package and Relocation Assistance. Salary and academic rank commensurate with experience.

Summary of the Position

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the evaluation, management, and treatment of patients with pulmonary hypertension. This position is primarily an outpatient and inpatient consultative opportunity. As a medical director, you will lead the growth of PH program through outreach efforts and oversee the CTEPH program. You will lead our biweekly multidisciplinary PH case conference and participate in the PVRI and PHAR registries.

The Center for Advanced Lung Diseases receives support from the advanced heart failure specialists, experienced cardiac and thoracic surgeons, interventional cardiologists, fellowship‑trained chest radiologists, rheumatologists, and pathologists who specialize in pulmonary pathology.

BUMC has a large commitment to medical education. Candidates will be expected to be involved in the teaching of Texas A&M medical students, residents and fellows. The Division has established pulmonary/critical care and critical care fellowship programs and has an established pathway offering fellows the opportunity to receive advanced training in PH, ILD and lung transplant. Academic appointment commensurate to experience.

The Center for Advanced Heart & Lung disease has a very active research program with a strong supporting team and is the PH Program is involved in multiple clinical trials and registries.

Qualifications
  • M.D. or D.O.
  • Board certification in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine
  • Able to obtain license to practice medicine in Texas.
  • Graduate of a PH fellowship, comparable training or extensive clinical experience in Pulmonary Hypertension required.
