About The Loop DallasThe Loop Dallas is a transformative urban trail project that unites 39 miles of existing trails with 11 miles of newly constructed pathways, creating a continuous 50‑mile loop around the city's core. This initiative aims to revitalize communities, provide safe and reliable pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, and make walkable green spaces an integral part of Dallas's identity.
Job SummaryThe Loop Dallas seeks a dynamic and experienced Landscape Architect to oversee the design, engineering, and stakeholder approvals for the final two miles of trail needed to complete the 50‑mile circuit. This position will also lead design standards for new trail projects, Trailheads, and other green spaces related to the 50‑mile network.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management of the Final Two Miles:
- Oversee management of two consultant teams, provide design review, ensure milestones are met, and maintain each project's budget.
- Serve as project liaison with the City of Dallas per the public‑private agreement The Loop Dallas operates.
- Assist with securing agreements with stakeholders to obtain the right of way needed to deliver projects.
Lead Wayfinding Program:
- Lead the selected consultant to develop a way finding program that uses trails and transit for active transportation.
- Work with relevant public entities and stakeholders, including “Friends of” groups for Dallas trails, to ensure system success and adoption.
- Create a sustainable implementation plan to activate the 50‑mile system and beyond.
Institutionalize Design Standards:
- Implement best practices from the five existing projects to improve work that connects to and enhances The Loop Dallas and the Dallas trail system.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in landscape architecture from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience.
- Strong understanding of sustainable design principles and local plant ecology.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Significant professional experience in landscape architecture with a focus on urban and community‑based projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven track record of managing complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch Up, and GIS applications.
- Demonstrated personal effectiveness, credibility, and collaboration skills.
- Adaptability and a positive approach to challenges.
- High ethical standards, trustworthiness, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- A cover letter detailing relevant experience and interest in The Loop Dallas’s mission.
- A current resume.
- A portfolio showcasing relevant urban landscape projects.
- An indication of willingness to participate in roughly 70% in‑person work; virtual meetings will also be used.
- Salary commensurate with experience.
