SummaryUnder the direct supervision of the Production Services Manager, the Theatrical Lighting Designer and Production Technician plays a vital role in creating engaging and meaningful worship experiences across both Traditional and Contemporary worship services, as well as for concerts, theatrical productions, and special events and is a partner in ministry helping to fulfill the mission and vision of St. Andrew Methodist Church.
EssentialFunctions
- Design, program, and operate lighting for weekly Traditional and Contemporary worship services, concerts, and seasonal events.
- Collaborate with worship leaders, musicians, and creative teams to design lighting that complements the tone and message of each service.
- Create lighting plots, cue stacks, and color palettes for a variety of worship and performance styles.
- Maintain and update lighting systems, including fixtures, dimming systems, and control consoles (ETC Eos family preferred).
- Provide technical support for live and recorded services, including sound reinforcement, projection, and video playback.
- Operate and maintain video switchers, projectors, cameras, and Pro Presenter systems during services and events. Assist in managing and troubleshooting stage audio, wireless systems, and livestream setups.
- Support the integration of new technologies to enhance the worship and production environment.
- Perform regular maintenance, repair, and inventory management for all lighting, audio, and video equipment.
- Assist with stage setup, teardown, and transitions between Traditional and Contemporary services.
- Train, schedule, and support volunteer production team members.
- Collaborate closely with the Production Services Manager and Worship Arts staff to ensure high-quality, distraction-free worship experiences.
- Strong working knowledge of lighting consoles (ETC Eos preferred), intelligent fixtures, and DMX networking
- Familiarity with professional sound systems, digital audio consoles, and video technologies (Pro Presenter, Blackmagic, etc.)
- Proven ability to adapt creative design between multiple worship environments (Traditional and Contemporary)
- Excellent troubleshooting, organization, and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities; comfortable collaborating with staff and volunteers
- A heart for ministry and alignment with the mission and values of St. Andrew Methodist Church
This position would require the ability to move equipment from one location to another and the ability to lift 50 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkThis is an exempt full-time position at 36.5 hours per week. Work hours are Monday – Thursday, 8:30-5:00 and Sundays, 8:30-1:00.Saturday evening rotation with the rest of the production team.
TravelNo travel is expected for this role.
Education and Experience- High School diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in theatrical lighting design, live production, or similar technical roles
- Experience in a church or performing arts production setting
- Knowledge of live streaming systems and broadcast operations
- Familiarity with stage design, rigging, and projection mapping
- Experience training and leading volunteer teams
The expected annual salary range for the position is between $43,500 - $50,000 annually, and may vary based on qualifications, experience, and organizational needs.
