This role is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Assistant Director to support the production of a 70 to 78‑minute feature film. The project is in the planning and research phase, and the successful candidate will work closely with the Director, Cinematographer, Location and Sound Manager, and Production Designer. The primary filming location is Dallas, Texas, with additional scenes in other parts of Texas and two scenes in Los Angeles, California.
This position requires full on‑site presence throughout the production, and applicants must be willing to travel as needed. The project is a personal endeavour, offering a hands‑on experience in a collaborative, creative environment.
- Collaborate with the Director and production team to develop and execute the shooting schedule
- Coordinate daily on‑set operations, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to timelines
- Manage cast and crew logistics, including call sheets, location arrangements, and equipment needs
- Oversee scene transitions and continuity, maintaining high production standards
- Facilitate communication between departments to resolve issues and keep production on track
- Support the Producer in budgeting, resource allocation, and compliance with safety protocols
- Assist with location scouting and securing necessary permits
- Ensure all scenes are completed efficiently, adapting to changes in schedule or location as required
- Proven experience as an Assistant Director or in a similar production management role for feature films
- Strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to coordinate with diverse teams
- Willingness and ability to be on site for the entire duration of the project in Dallas, Texas, with travel to other Texas locations and Los Angeles, California
- Familiarity with film production processes, scheduling software, and on‑set protocols
- Problem‑solving mindset and adaptability to dynamic production environments
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining continuity and quality throughout the shoot
- Availability to participate in pre‑production planning and research stages
