- Must be a current student working toward a degree in a construction‑related program
- Interest in pursuing a career in the construction industry
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and/or estimating is a plus
- Strong problem‑solving and collaboration skills required
The Estimating Intern supports the Estimating team in developing and preparing cost estimates of materials for various electrical projects. This internship provides hands‑on experience and exposure to the electrical construction industry, preparing candidates for a potential future role in estimating.
- Assist with downloading and organizing bid documents into electronic files as directed by the Estimating Manager and other Estimators
- Review bid documents to support the accurate quantification and estimation of costs for electrical items provided in the bid package
- Attend pre‑bid meetings to observe and gather relevant information, as needed
- Assist in quantifying electrical items as per the bid package
- Support the preparation of bills of material for vendor quotations
- Collaborate with Estimators on assembling the final estimate for presentation to the customer
- Assist in preparing proposals, scope of work letters, and Request for Proposal (RFP) response packages
- Participate in site walks and observe ongoing projects to see how drawings translate to actual construction
- Learn to identify key construction elements and compare them with project plans and specifications
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Junior status or above
- Strong communication skills
- Attention to detail and organization skills
- Remain calm and focused in a constantly changing environment
- Ability to work within the hours of Monday through Friday between 7:00 am–5:00 pm
- Hours will vary and can be worked around course schedules
