- Assist estimators with preparing quantity takeoffs using digital tools and drawings.
- Review construction plans, specifications, and addenda for assigned scopes.
- Support the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals.
- Help maintain cost databases, historical pricing, and vendor/supplier information.
- Participate in subcontractor outreach efforts and assist with collecting proposals.
- Compare subcontractor bids to evaluate coverage and identify scope gaps.
- Update and organize bid files, estimate documents, and project materials.
- Attend project meetings, site visits, and team discussions as available.
- Learn and apply company estimating processes, systems, and best practices.
- How cost estimates are developed for construction projects.
- How to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
- Tools and software commonly used in the estimating profession.
- How trade partners, suppliers, and internal teams collaborate during preconstruction.
- Real‑world problem‑solving skills relevant to construction and engineering.
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program, preferably studying:
- Construction Management/Construction Science
- Mechanical Engineering
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to read or willingness to learn to read construction drawings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required).
- Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Interest in pursuing a career in estimating, preconstruction, or construction.
- Experience with Bluebeam, On‑Screen Takeoff, Plan Grid, or similar tools.
- Prior internship, project, or relevant coursework in construction or engineering.
- Basic understanding of construction methods or mechanical/electrical systems.
- Hands‑on industry exposure with meaningful project involvement.
