Traveling Construction Superintendent-Retail

Qualifications & Responsibilities

• Experienced Commercial Superintendent—okay with travel to worksite/post up during work at the project/build site location.
• Ideally a Commercial construction background in Retail—must handle Ground‑Up work (ideal $15M project size and above).
• Specializes in Tilt Wall units.
• Typical project areas: OK, MO, AR, TX, KS, LA—attempt to keep the Superintendent within a 6‑7 hour drive of home base.
• College degree preferred (Construction and/or Business background) but not required depending on experience.
• Primary customers are Big Box Retail—majority of work is Ground Up, not remodel.
• Remodel work typically runs 14‑28 weeks; new store projects run from 5‑12 months on average.
• Will work closely with the project team—must be a team player; no lone wolves. Often stays with the same Project Manager based at HQ in KS, traveling every week or two to the project site for a day or two.
• Must be computer‑savvy—clients/owners (large retail stores) demand this, so non‑negotiable.
• Client will cover costs of “return home” twice a month (airfare/travel per diem).
• Lots of work in the pipeline—if a project wraps up before the next one hits the schedule, you’ll be dispatched to assist on another project, so you won’t be put on the bench until the next project releases, ensuring no loss of wages/time.
