Vogel is seeking a dedicated Part-Time Early Childhood Teacher (Afternoon / Aftercare) to support our daily operations during critical afternoon hours. In this vital role, you’ll provide classroom coverage, support staff breaks, and lead aftercare programming for our scholars.
You will also serve as a key teacher for mental health groups or partner agency services, ensuring every child has a safe and nurturing space to grow. By offering encouragement and guidance during the extended day, you help maintain the continuity of care that our families rely on. The ideal candidate is dependable, flexible, and experienced in early childhood or after school programming.
As part of our team, you will model positive behavior guidance and trauma-informed practices, directly contributing to the social-emotional and cognitive development of children from Infants through Pre-K. This is a Non-Exempt, Part-Time position. The pay rate for this role is $20.00 per hour. The schedule is typically 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM or 1:00 PM – 7:30 PM, based on program needs.

ResponsibilitiesScope of Responsibility:
- Supports daily early childhood operations during afternoon hours, including classroom coverage and staff transitions.
- Serves as the aftercare teacher for mental health groups or partner agency services as required.
- Maintains a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for young children.
- Collaborates closely with site leadership, classroom teachers, and mental health partners.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support daily ECE operations, including classroom coverage and providing staff breaks.
- Serve as the aftercare teacher for assigned groups and partner programming.
- Implement lesson plans, activities, and daily routines aligned with center curriculum and licensing standards.
- Support children’s social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development.
- Supervise and engage scholars during aftercare, transitions, and extended-day programming.
- Follow all Texas Child Care Licensing, health, and safety regulations.
- Model positive behavior guidance strategies and trauma-informed practices.
- Maintain professionalism, flexibility, and reliability in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, walk, and move throughout the day.
- Ability to actively engage with children indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to supervise children during extended-day programming.
Required:
- Minimum Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
- Must meet all Texas Child Care Licensing requirements.
- Ability to pass required background checks and screenings.
- Experience working with young children in a group setting.
- Flexibility with schedule and daily assignments.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
- Experience with early childhood lesson planning and classroom routines.
- Experience in after school or school-age programming.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care or mental health–informed practices.
- Experience in Head Start, Early Head Start, or NAEYC-accredited programs.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
