US Customs & Trade Compliance Manager

Schneider Electric has an opportunity for a U.S. Customs & Trade Compliance Manager. This is a hybrid role (2 days in-office) to be based in one of the Schneider Electric Hubs:
Nashville, TN;
Raleigh, NC; or Dallas, TX.

About the Role

Reporting to the Regional Americas Customs & Trade Compliance Director within the Tax & Customs team, this position drives Schneider’s global trade compliance strategy in the region, ensuring regulatory adherence and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expertise and oversight of a broad range of import/export trade remedies, origin determination, customs valuation, anti-dumping, countervailing duty and other trade compliance activities.
  • Monitor and keep current on the rapidly changing trade environment, trade-related regulatory and legislative changes, customs rulings, and court decisions; communicate impact to the business and take appropriate actions to protect and deliver benefit to the business.
  • Focus on mitigating risk, monitoring regulatory changes, and developing and enhancing the company’s trade compliance framework. Develop and implement trade compliance risk mitigation programs and strategy.
  • Perform and manage import/export audit program, implement scorecard to measure customs and trade compliance, execute after action review to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage and communicate with U.S Customs & Border Protection and other governmental departments to resolve import and export issues. Create response to CF28, CF29, and other requests.
  • Bring strong knowledge of customs valuation, origin determination, AD/CVD investigations, have robust analytical skills to scrutinize case scope to determine applicability.
  • Be responsible for the development, execution, and maintenance of the U.S compliance program.
  • Ensure that Schneider Electric business units are compliant with all applicable customs and trade regulations, enforce compliance, create, and deploy policies and procedures, deliver training, develop, and drive process improvements and to optimize duty reduction with all available duty mitigation programs.
  • Analyze import data to identify trends, minimize risks and identify opportunities.
  • Drive cost savings and efficiencies through continuous improvement and effective management of trade compliance program, efficient internal processes, free trade utilization, returning goods provisions, section 301, etc.
  • Work with centralized classification and free trade function to identify and evaluate opportunities to facilitate duty reduction while administering compliance.
  • Provide subject matter expert advice and guidance regarding all aspects of trade compliance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, and supply chain, to ensure trade compliance requirements are integrated into business operations.
Qualifications
  • Higher education with significant experience in Customs, international trade, and trade compliance.
  • Licensed Customs Broker, CCS, MCS or relevant Customs Related Certificate Programs.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Customs & Trade Compliance.
  • Capacity to engage, influence and manage relationships with key partners, act as a leader.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. trade regulations, customs laws, and trade agreements; expert knowledge of anti-dumping/countervailing duty, section 232, 301 and other.
  • Straightforward, Challenging and Effective communication. Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization and within government departments.
  • Able to actively lead/participate in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures to detect and mitigate risks.
  • Strong Data Analysis and Reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power BI and Tableau.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel required.
