Role DescriptionThis is a full‑time, on‑site role located in Dallas, TX, for an Assistant Controller who will report to the Controller. This person will manage the daily accounting operations for accounting, financial reporting, and accounts payable. The Assistant Controller is motivated by a strong understanding of accounting principles, is detail‑oriented, and is able to work independently and collaboratively.
Essential Job Functions- Manage the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tax compliance.
- Oversee completion, prepare audit reports, and coordinate with auditors for several companies throughout the year.
- Prepare payroll journal entry files for various companies.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and financial data.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data.
- Review financial statements for various portfolio companies, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Implement and maintain internal controls to protect company assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Oversee and support the accounting team with leadership that promotes collaboration and an environment of trust.
- Manage and perform special projects and duties as assigned.
- In‑depth knowledge and understanding of accounting principles
- Ability to adhere to the highest standards of confidentiality and discretion in all proprietary business, financial, and employee matters
- Proactive, organized, and driven self-starter with the ability to pull reports to synthesize data and build the strategy for the enterprise to follow.
- Able to adapt to an evolving and dynamic work environment
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills
- A sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the company’s success
- 5+ years of accounting-related experience
- 3+ years in public accounting.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- Experience building rapport and interacting with the fund and CFOs at each portfolio company.
- Energy industry experience.
- Advanced computer skills, including MS Office, Word, and Excel.
- Experience with Net Suite and Navision, preferred
