Job Description

We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join our team. The Financial Accountant will support financial decision‑making by collecting, analyzing, and reporting financial data. Perform accounting, financial analysis, and other related duties within the Financial Services department that support the entire organization. Join our team and shine hope in the lives of others!

What you’ll do:
  • Assist with monthly accounting for investments, reconciliations, reporting of activities, and analysis.
  • Assist with coordination and preparation of the annual IRS Form 990s for all Buckner entities.
  • Respond to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing and interpreting data.
  • Assist with accomplishing finance & organization mission by completing related tasks as required.
  • Assist with tracking designated accounts and activities. Assist with managing monthly process of transferring designated funds into the operating budget. Assist with maintaining related reports. Assist with reviewing designated funds for necessary adjustments. Assist with setting up new designated funds when requested or needed.
  • Prepare timely and accurate journal entries in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Prepare timely and accurate reconciliations of bank accounts and general ledger accounts.
  • Assist with maintaining the accounting and reporting of bequest and estate activities.
  • Assist in the annual audit process with audit work paper preparation and direct responses to auditors.
  • Assist with budgeting activities as required.
  • Assist with preparation of the annual Single Audit, including coordination of information and reconciliations of grant proceeds.
  • Assist in accounting for fixed assets, as needed.
  • Assist in accounting for accounts receivable.
  • Assist in performing financial analysis as needed.
  • Audit the work of other department employees as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate and current records of the accounting for development activities.
What you’ ll bring:
  • Requires in-depth understanding of a comprehensive field of knowledge. Involves ability to define problems, draw conclusions and make decisions dealing with abstract variables.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • Requires a minimum of 2 years prior related experience in accounting.
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation preferred but not required.
  • Requires proficient working knowledge and ability to manage automated accounting systems.
  • Requires demonstrated strong analytical skills, including an ability to synthesize large amounts of information and to focus quickly on the essence of an issue; strong commitment to producing measurable results.
  • Proficient working knowledge and ability to accurately and timely operate and perform computer‑related tasks with specific equipment and software applications, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook, required.
