Position: Accountant I

At Moss Utilities, we specialize in underground utility installations across the DFW Metroplex. Our project experience includes commercial, single-family residential, multi-family residential, and public works infrastructure.

Accountant I

Position Overview

The accountant I is responsible for supporting the financial integrity of the organization through accurate reporting, analysis, and process ownership.

The accountant I will partner closely with Finance leadership and cross functional teams to ensure financial processes align with company growth and field execution.

This is a hands-on role that requires both technical accounting strength and a proactive mindset.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy and supporting schedules.
  • Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies when necessary.
  • Review monthly SG&A expenses and provide variance explanations.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Maintain the fixed asset subledger, including additions, disposals, and monthly depreciation.
  • Support audit preparation and external reporting needs.
  • Monitor and improve accounting processes and workflows.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Understanding of fixed assets preferred.
  • ERP system experience preferred.
