Position: Accounting Manager (Real Estate) - 1-2 Days in Office - Uptown - (120k)

LHH is seeking an Accounting Manager for a well-established professional services firm specializing in real estate and investment partnerships. This leadership role is ideal for a technically strong accounting professional with deep real estate experience, a solid understanding of GAAP, and proven ability to manage client relationships, staff, and multiple engagements simultaneously. The ideal candidate brings expertise in consolidations, lease accounting, and financial statement review, along with the leadership skills to mentor teams and oversee complex client deliverables.

Job Responsibilities
  • Oversee preparation and detailed review of financial statements, general ledger activity, and supporting schedules
  • Apply strong knowledge of real estate accounting, including consolidations, straight-line rent, and lease accounting
  • Prepare and review financial statement footnotes and related disclosures
  • Manage client relationships, timelines, deliverables, and expectations
  • Monitor engagement scope, profitability, and billing accuracy, including out-of-scope work
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop staff; review work and provide constructive feedback
  • Manage multiple engagements, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met
  • Oversee audit and tax support processes, including 1099 reporting and coordination with external auditors and tax teams
  • Identify process improvements and leverage technology to enhance efficiency
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (CPA strongly preferred)
  • Progressive accounting experience within real estate or professional services environments
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, partnership structures, LPAs, and loan agreements
  • Experience with consolidations, lease accounting, and financial reporting
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting/reporting platforms
  • Proven leadership, client management, and project management skills
  • Ability to research technical accounting issues and provide clear guidance
