The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing advanced accounting functions to support accurate financial reporting and operational decision-making. This role requires strong accounting knowledge, exceptional critical-thinking skills, and the ability to solve problems in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing complex, multi-unit financial activities. A hospitality background is helpful but not required.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements for multiple business units.
- Maintain general ledger accuracy, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies.
- Review and reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and balance sheet accounts.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and develop solutions to improve workflow efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data and support operational leaders.
- Assist auditors with required documentation during financial audits.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for accounting systems and processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience; multi-unit or multi-location experience preferred.
- Solid understanding of core accounting principles.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in accounting software
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Hospitality or restaurant industry experience helpful but not required.
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong time-management and prioritization
- Adaptability in a dynamic, multi-unit environment
