Senior Operations Accountant | Bridge Ops & Finance | Natural Gas | Fort Worth The Accountant Who Actually Understands Well Pads
BKV Corporation needs a Senior Operations Accountant who can hold their own in a production meeting with field foremen—then turn around and present the financial story to the CFO. This isn't a cubicle role. You'll be the financial voice for 10 production areas across our natural gas operations, translating operational chaos into accounting clarity.
What You'll Actually Do:Monthly Asset Reviews That Matter
- Lead monthly meetings with Foremen, Operations VPs, and Advisors—answering granular questions about specific well pads AND high-level strategic questions in the same breath
- Present LOE accrual results to Denver accounting team and Fort Worth operations leadership
- Your variance explanations drive capital allocation decisions, not just file folders
- Build and maintain complex Excel accrual workbooks tracking costs by area, well pad, and allocation group
- Partner with field personnel to estimate current-period expenses when a storm shuts down production or emergency workovers disrupt normal operations
- Reconcile AP allocation groups and routes—you'll need to understand WHY costs hit certain well pads, not just THAT they did
- Morning:
Field foreman asks why chemical costs spiked on Pad 14B (you know it's winter freeze protection) - Afternoon: VP asks if LOE trends support increasing production guidance (you translate field intel into financial impact)
- You speak both languages fluently
- ✓ Shared office in Blue Mound with another accountant (3 days/week onsite minimum)
- ✓ Fixed month-end close deadlines + unscheduled operational curveballs (last week's storm didn't care about your close schedule)
- ✓ Excel-heavy:
You'll adjust formulas, build allocation models, not just pull reports - ✓ Enertia system today, SAP implementation coming (we'll train you)
- ✓ Several months side‑by‑side transition with outgoing accountant before she moves to CCUS role
You've spent 5+ years in upstream operations accounting
—and "operations" isn't just a word in your title. You've been in production meetings. You know what a pulling unit does. You understand why LOE spikes when water disposal wells go down. You've explained accrual variances to field supervisors...
Because you care about getting the answer right, not just closing the books on time.
Must-Haves:✓ 5+ years upstream oil & gas operations accounting (E&P companies, not midstream)
✓
Direct experience partnering with field operations
—not siloed JIB, A/P, or corporate accounting
✓
Advanced Excel skills
:
You build/modify complex accrual workbooks, not just use them
✓ Experience with
AP allocation groups and cost routing in upstream environment
✓
Fort Worth-based or realistic DFW commute (Blue Mound office 3 days/week minimum)
✓ Ability to communicate with Foremen AND VPs in the same meeting
✓ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Preferred:○ SAP experience (we're implementing; trainable if you have right foundation)
○ 7-10 years’ experience for depth
Why BKV:- $2B publicly traded natural gas leader with integrated upstream/CCUS/power platform
- ~500 employees = your work visible, your insights heard, bureaucracy minimized
- Transition training with outgoing accountant (not thrown into deep end Day
1) - Hybrid schedule that respects you're an adult who can manage your time
This role is too critical to guess. If this sounds like the bridge role you've been doing—or want to step into—let's talk.
