What You Need to Know

The Senior Tax Accountant is tasked with the responsibilities of tax compliance. This position entails the preparation and review of federal and state tax returns, alongside the management of essential supporting tax schedules and systems.

This position also involves the calculation, preparation, and review of federal and state quarterly estimated and extension payments, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements.

The Senior Tax Accountant role involves active participation in the oversight and facilitation of various regulatory filings, including business license returns, property tax renditions, annual report submissions, and similar obligations. This role is entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining supporting schedules and systems essential for the execution of these filings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Federal and State Income Tax Compliance – Corporation, Partnership and Non‑Profit
    • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns using One Source Income Tax Software, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
    • Create comprehensive work papers, including tax adjustments, to support corporate federal and state income tax returns.
    • Calculate, prepare, and thoroughly review federal and state quarterly estimated tax payments and extensions in a timely manner.
    • Gather and analyze state data needed in apportionment for multi‑state income tax filings and ensure compliance in various jurisdictions.
    • Conduct research on federal and state income tax issues as needed.
    • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of evolving federal and state tax laws, interpreting and implementing new or revised regulations as they arise.
    • Assist during IRS and state income tax audits, including the effective resolution of audit‑related inquiries and notices.
    • Mentor and supervise Tax Staff Accountant in the preparation and filing of various federal and state income tax work papers and tax returns.
  • Business Licenses
    • Lead and mentor the Tax Staff Accountant in preparing and filing enterprise licenses, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
    • Collaborate in the coordination, preparation, and filing of business licenses as needed.
    • Maintain supporting schedules and records for business license filings, facilitating efficient and organized processes.
    • Conduct research on new jurisdictions, document requirements, and initiate applications for necessary business licences.
    • Address inquiries and requests related to business licences promptly, providing clear and informative responses.
  • Property Taxes
    • Assist and provide guidance to the Tax Staff Accountant in the preparation and filing of property tax renditions, in a timely manner.
    • Contribute to timely property tax payments, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and deadlines.
    • Maintain organized and complete supporting schedules and records for property tax filings and payments, ensuring readiness for audits.
    • Stay informed about new jurisdictions and their specific requirements as needed.
    • Respond promptly to inquiries regarding property tax filings as requested.
  • Annual Reports and Charitable Solicitation Reports
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to the Tax Staff Accountant in the preparation and filing of annual reports, including those for non‑profit entities.
    • Assist the Tax Staff Accountant in filing charitable solicitation reports for non‑profit entities, ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations.
