LHH is seeking a Senior Commercial Property Accountant to support a confidential client that owns and operates a diverse portfolio of commercial and mixed-use real estate assets across multiple markets. This organization is well established, financially sophisticated, and known for managing complex properties with high visibility. This role is ideal for an experienced commercial property accounting professional who enjoys being a trusted financial partner to property management teams, thrives in a deadline-driven environment, and brings strong technical accounting expertise, particularly around leases, CAM, and monthly reporting.
Job Responsibilities- Complete, review, and research property accounting transactions, including billing adjustments and scheduled charges
- Interpret tenant lease language and ensure accurate setup within property accounting systems
- Maintain and review monthly Rent Roll, Tenant Ledger, Aged Delinquency, and Lease Expiration reports
- Prepare and review property general ledgers, balance sheets, and income statements across cash, accrual, tax, and GAAP bases
- Prepare and post journal entries as needed and ensure overall ledger accuracy
- Produce monthly financial reporting packages, variance analyses, and supplemental schedules for internal and external stakeholders
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and review general ledger activity monthly, identifying and correcting discrepancies
- Support and review Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliation processes
- Partner with property management to develop and review annual operating budgets
- Prepare construction draw packages and review job cost and intercompany reconciliations
- Perform partnership accounting activities, including recording contributions/distributions and entries related to acquisitions or dispositions
- Review accounts payable invoices for proper coding and documentation prior to posting
- Review daily cash receipts for accuracy and correct application
- Monitor cash requirements and assist with funding requests and cash distributions
- Provide support to team members and assist with special projects as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required (Master’s degree a plus)
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred, but not required
- 5+ years of direct commercial property accounting experience (may be less with CPA or advanced degree)
- Strong understanding of lease accounting and property-level financial reporting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams
- Professional, service-oriented approach with the ability to meet tight deadlines
