Overview

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant for an in office position to own and continuously improve our accounts payable function while supporting core month-end close and financial reporting activities. The ideal candidate brings deep AP expertise, strong accounting fundamentals, and a process-improvement mindset. You will partner closely with project managers, operations, and leadership to ensure financial accuracy, compliance with internal controls, and scalable AP processes in a fast-paced professional services environment.

This role is critical to ensuring accurate, timely vendor payments, maintaining strong relationships with consultants, subcontractors, and service providers, and supporting accurate financial results in a professional environment.

In addition to day-to-day AP operations, this role contributes to period-end close activities, including AP accruals, standard journal entries, prepaid expense reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, and updating the cash forecast with actual results. The role requires collaboration with project managers, operations, and finance leadership to support close and reporting processes.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Own the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice intake, coding, approvals, and payment processing.
  • Manage vendor setup, W-9 collection, and ongoing vendor relationship support, including resolving discrepancies and inquiries.
  • Prepare and post standard journal entries, AP accruals, and supporting schedules as part of the month-end close process.
  • Perform reconciliations of prepaid expenses, ensuring proper amortization and accurate period expense recognition.
  • Support fixed asset management, including capitalization, disposals, depreciation schedules, and reconciliation to the general ledger.
  • Update and maintain the cash forecast, incorporating actual disbursements and timing of vendor payments.
  • Coordinate weekly payment runs (ACH, check, wire) while optimizing cash flow timing.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and audit requirements related to AP and close processes.
  • Assist with audit requests and documentation related to accounts payable, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of AP, close, and cash forecasting activities.
  • Performing other work-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of Staff Accountant experience
  • CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred
  • Proven experience managing high transaction volumes while meeting month-end close deadlines
  • Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems.
  • Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivots, reconciliations, forecasting support).
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, prepaid and fixed asset accounting.
  • Experience supporting audits and responding to auditor requests.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, project managers, and leadership.
