Lead Accountant - Operational Acct

Sunoco LP is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Accountant to join our dynamic accounting team. This role requires a strong technical accounting background, expertise in GAAP, and significant experience in international consolidation, acquisition purchase price accounting, and integration. The Lead Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting and will be instrumental in managing complex accounting projects related to mergers and acquisitions and technical accounting.

• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in all financial reporting.
• Provide guidance on complex technical accounting issues and new accounting standards.
• Conduct regular assessments and updates of accounting policies and procedures.
• Oversee the consolidation of financial statements for multiple international entities.
• Manage intercompany transactions, eliminations, and reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with relevant international accounting standards and regulations.
• Coordinate with international accounting teams to gather and analyze financial data.
• Assist with reporting and consolidation enhancements of ancillary ERP accounting systems.
• Lead the accounting workstream for acquisitions, including purchase price allocations (PPA).
• Work closely with cross‑functional teams to integrate acquired entities into the company's financial systems and processes.
• Analyze and document the financial impact of acquisitions on consolidated financial statements.
• Monitor and report on post‑acquisition performance and related financial metrics.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting efficiency and accuracy.
• Perform in‑depth financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and key drivers impacting business performance.
• Lead and participate in special accounting and finance projects as required by Sunoco LP Accounting.
• Analyze and provide recommendations for process improvements and best practices.
• Collaborate with various departments to support strategic initiatives and business objectives.
• Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analyses to support decision‑making processes.

• Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years of related experience.
• Prior fuel inventory and general ledger accounting experience preferred.
• Strong experience in SAP S/4 FIORI/Winshuttle.
• Experience working with Right Angle preferred.
• IFRS and US GAAP preferred.
• Strong analytic and data analysis skills required, especially MS Excel.
• Must display good judgment and be able to work independently, as needed.
• Must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Must be flexible, adaptable and have a high level of initiative.

• The Accountant/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 2‑5 years of relevant job‑related experience.
• The Senior Accountant/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 5‑8 years of relevant job‑related experience.
• The Lead Accountant/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 8+ years of relevant job‑related experience.

• Usually, normal office working conditions.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required.
