Tax Senior Accountants will work individually and with team members to review individual, trust, partnership, corporate, and foreign tax returns; mentor and supervise tax staff; prepare more complex tax returns; and assist in client management and practice development activities. They will work 40 hours per week and up to 60 hours during busy season. The Tax Senior Accountant reports to the Tax Manager and Tax Partner.
Responsibilities& Duties
- Implement client engagements from start to finish, including planning, executing, directing, and completing tax assignments.
- Review tax returns prepared by staff and make recommendations regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities.
- Prepare more complex tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships, and corporations.
- Proactively interact with key client management to gather information, resolve tax‑related problems, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Gain an understanding of client operations, processes, and business objectives.
- Possess an understanding of state and foreign tax issues.
- Manage engagement budgets.
- Supervise, train, and mentor tax staff and interns on projects.
- Know and understand the firm’s policies and procedures.
- Possess a working knowledge of firm technology and time and billing software.
- Certified Public Accountant or Enrolled Agent license preferred.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years of progressive tax accounting experience in public accounting or at least one year of experience as a Tax Senior Accountant supervising a team of three or more.
- Adept in tax compliance, corporate consolidated returns, consolidated federal tax returns, partnership returns, and combined state tax returns.
- Ability to supervise staff and lead projects.
- Proficiency in CCH Axcess software, or similar, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Professionalism, dependability, integrity, and trustworthiness, combined with a cooperative attitude.
- Highly motivated self‑starter with the ability to multitask and complete assignments within time constraints and deadlines.
