Mobile Packet Core Engineer

Working within a Mobile & IP team, this role supports the ongoing evolution of packet core services and IoT integration! It offers exposure to next-generation mobile platforms and emerging automation tools.

• Operating and maintaining EPC, IMS and CS components in line with KPIs and SLAs.
• Managing Packet Core nodes including SGSN, GGSN, MME, SGW, PGW, AMF, UPF and SMF.
• Monitoring performance metrics and optimising capacity.
• Troubleshooting signalling protocols including Diameter, SIP, SS7, GTP and HTTPS.
• Managing IP connectivity for GRX and interconnect partners.
• Supporting roaming services and ensuring compliance.
• Supporting VAS, NB-IoT, CAT-M and IoT platform integration and lifecycle management.
• Participating in network expansion and core upgrade projects.
• Contributing to vendor engagement and RFP evaluation processes.
• Supporting security monitoring and vulnerability management within the core domain.
• Participating in an on-call rota and maintaining regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on experience across 2G, 4G and 5G Packet Core environments and associated signalling protocols. Knowledge of IP networking, routing, firewalls and telecoms virtualised infrastructure is essential. They will demonstrate structured analytical capability, adaptability within evolving technical landscapes and strong stakeholder communication skills. A proactive approach to automation and emerging technologies, including AI‑assisted tools, would be advantageous.
