Support Worker - Short Breaks

Overview

The States of Guernsey are looking for a Support Worker to join the Short Breaks Service based at The Croft. The post holder will be a member of a team based in the 7 bedded home. It provides short breaks and outreach support for children with learning disabilities. In addition to the home, we also provide support to children and young people in their own homes, local community and provide day care during the school holidays.

• Work with children and families supporting vulnerable children and young people, ensuring their general wellbeing needs are identified, met and maintained.
• Carry out a wide range of duties as part of a team and independently to ensure a high level of quality care is delivered for the children.
• Provide and maintain a homely environment promoting the “Ordinary life Principles,” respecting the dignity and rights of the children accessing the Short Breaks Service.
• Collaborate with colleagues, including senior staff, and manage workload in situations where direct supervision is not available.
• Support services delivered in the home, in children’s own homes, in the local community and during school holidays as part of the Short Breaks Service.
