The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Film Production Manager & Technical Supervisor on the Gainesville campus. The position is based on the Gainesville campus, specifically in the Film & Digital Media and Nesbitt buildings occupied by the School of Communication, Film & Theatre. Primary responsibilities are to manage student film productions, maintain all film and video production facilities and equipment, and supervise the student employees who staff the equipment storage room and fulfill check-in/check-out requests.
This position is responsible for ensuring both student and faculty productions comply with the university s legal and risk management policies and the CFT Film Production Manual. The school is willing to fund advanced training and certifications for this position, but a thorough understanding of the film, television, and media production process and the equipment used therein as well as a willingness to pursue additional training and education are mandatory qualifications.
- Maintain the equipment storage room, three sound stages, computer lab, post-production finishing room, and recording studio in the Film & Digital Media building, and the broadcast studio and radio/podcast rooms in Nesbitt building.
- Supervise part-time student workers tasked with equipment check-out and check-in on Gainesville campus.
- Communicate with manufacturers and the IT department about malfunctioning equipment then either repair, ship to company or replace.
- Evaluate student film production requests, mentor students during pre-production, reserve on-campus space for approved student productions, and review student paperwork to ensure productions comply with university policies.
- Supervise student film crews when no faculty are present.
- Pursue additional training and certification on equipment specific to our facilities.
- Assist faculty with class instruction.
- Proficiency with DSLR and digital cinema cameras, non-linear video and audio editing, and all standard gear found on film and television sets.
- Ability to patiently train and conscientiously supervise students.
- Outstanding time management and multitasking skills.
- Must possess sound judgment, tact and diplomacy in dealing with a variety of personality types.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member. Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and under control in stressful situations.
- Ability and willingness to work numerous nights and weekends.
- Bachelor s degree required
- One year of digital media production experience required.
- Certifications in Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, Avid Pro Tools preferred.
- Three years of digital media production experience preferred.
- The proposed salary range for this position is: $22.79-$25.07 hour.
