Basic Commerce and Industries, Inc. (BCI) is seeking to fill a full-time Senior Systems Engineer in support of the Zumwalt program at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD).

• Minimum of 15-20 years US Navy surface warfare experience gained while on active duty senior enlisted or officer serving on DDGs, CGs, or land-based test sites, etc., or 15-20 years of civil service working on defense programs, or a combination of both.
• Required specialized Combat Systems experience in programs such as Zumwalt Combat System (ZCS), Aegis Combat and Weapon Systems, Ship Self Defense System (SSDS), Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), NIFC-CA, or Littoral Combat Ship (LCS).
• Advanced writing and verbal skills.
• Two (2) years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience assessing software trouble reports and Specification Change Requests.
• Experience using DOORS database is desired.
• A formal degree supporting systems engineering, software engineering or significant analysis experience is a plus.

• Provide senior systems engineering support for the Zumwalt Class Integrated Combat System.
• Assess Combat Systems engineering strategies, review system architectures, conduct requirements engineering and analysis, data analysis, and execute TSCE Element tasking for Zumwalt Combat System.
• Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and Design, Integration, and Test Working Groups as part of the NSWC DD DDG 1000 Navy Technical Team.
• Participate in detailed Design Reviews for new capabilities and assess proposed System/Software changes to existing Combat System capability.
• Interact with engineers internal and external to NSWCDD; collect and interpret technical inputs to support current and emergent Zumwalt Combat System capability objectives.
• Manage multiple projects under tight deadlines with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the BCI team and customers.
• Minimal travel may be required.
