Mechanical Engineer - Mid to Senior

Amentum is seeking engineering professionals with related education and/or experience to support Naval projects at Dahlgren, VA. You will be part of our growing systems & software engineering team and contribute to our diverse skillsets across multiple prime contracts in support of our Centers of Excellence.

The work location for this position is on‑site in Dahlgren, Virginia where we have provided support to the customer for over 50 years!

Position contingent on contract award which is expected in March 2026.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance.

• Candidates must maintain a valid Real r’s license required for access to customer site and have access to reliable transportation (rideshare options such as Uber, Lyft etc. are not permitted) as this position requires occasional travel between local worksites during the week.

• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline.
• Ten (10) years professional technical experience including at least five (5) years specialized experience in the areas of maritime, launcher, missile, weapon, or control systems concept definition, design, integration, and engineering. Specialized experience shall also include experience as a mechanical engineer performing mechanical engineering analysis and design, utilizing mechanical engineering software tools, coordinating mechanical fabrication, and mechanical engineering test techniques.
• Engineering experience in the mechanical design, development, and testing of missile launcher and support equipment.
• Experience with structural design and analysis, finite element analysis, fluid dynamics, and thermal dynamics. Experience with Solid Works, LS‑DYNA, or Craft Tech software.

• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline.
• Five (5) years professional technical experience which includes three (3) years specialized experience performing mechanical systems requirements management, mechanical systems engineering design and integration, utilizing mechanical systems engineering design software tools (such as Solid Works or Pro Engineer), and mechanical system structure design.
