SummaryThe Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” Additionally, AIT and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising, and operational tasks assigned by store management, such as cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities. They work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new teammates, and provide leadership.
AITs also share responsibility for training and motivating teammates and may act as Store Manager in their absence. Assistant Manager is a progression from AIT and includes additional high‑level duties.

Sales Generation and Guest Service- Greet guests with a friendly, engaging attitude, consistently providing legendary service.
- Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise.
- Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on guests' needs and desires.
- Anticipate and fulfill guest needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobe experience.
- Demonstrate products using product knowledge and sales education, consistently sharing that knowledge with team.
- Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, payment policies, exchanges, and security practices.
- Achieve personal sales‑per‑hour, average sales, and net sales goals set by Store Management.
- Provide legendary service throughout the store in the front five, sales floor, fitting rooms, and register area.
- Know all exchange and return procedures for guests and turn them into a showmanship opportunity.
- Use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) daily to accomplish goals.
- Meet or exceed performance standards in all Buckle business builders and guest loyalty.
- Identify opportunities to expand guest selection through inventory, advanced product search, iPad apps, etc.
- Build good guest relationships to develop a client‑based business.
- Lead by example with showmanship, excellent customer service, and attentiveness.
- Communicate guest levels with the team.
- Show passion for product education and showmanship to create results.
- Recognize recruiting opportunities using Jobs & Careers cards, email referrals, and Teammate Recommend.
- Coach and build relationships through Guest Loyalty and Guest Preferred.
- Develop skills and assist in leading, motivating, and educating new teammates.
- Maintain a positive floor culture and demonstrate the dress code.
- Participate effectively in daily setup, training, and performance tracking.
- Motivate teammates to complete daily tasks set by Store Management.
- Lead denim showmanship and fit card activities.
- Execute departmental actions and track on the Weekly Delegation Worksheet.
- Show leadership actions during segments.
- Keep guest names, involve guests with product, and update leaders and team.
- Assist with store staffing needs and explain pay and benefits.
- Keep contact list up to date and add top talent consistently.
- Execute training on the Leadership playbook and SPG shifts.
- Training and coaching for non‑sales positions.
- Follow through on all teammate training needs.
- Own and influence product zones, assigning tasks to teammates with a learning goal.
- Execute new tools and videos related to zone ownership.
- Partner with the Store Manager to review all four zones.
- Ensure teammates follow visual standards, the visual library, and the weekly visual checklist.
- Identify merchandising opportunities and communicate recommendations.
- Provide store tours and maintain a consistently sized sales floor.
- Use the Performance Tracker to improve overall visual results.
