Job SummaryLocation:
Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital – a full‑service, acute‑care facility situated on 32 acres on the northeast side of Highway 290 and Grand Parkway between Mason Road and Mueschke Road, serving the fast‑growing Cypress area of Houston. This position provides leadership to the Operating Room (OR) department, overseeing daily operations, managing departmental staff, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to deliver high quality, patient‑centered care.
Responsibilities- Manage the daily operations of the OR department, forecast and ensure adequate staffing, respond to departmental calls, plan for continuity of care, and serve as the charge nurse when required.
- Collaborate with physicians, management, and business partners to address strategic initiatives and organizational goals.
- Participate in interdisciplinary evaluation of programs and process improvements to achieve desired client‑centered and organizational outcomes.
- Consider the diverse needs of each patient throughout the continuum of care, ensuring the highest level of service and optimizing the patient experience.
- Ensure adequate scheduling and staffing, recruit, retain, and develop staff, provide performance feedback, and participate in staff performance reviews.
- Adhere to regulatory and Texas Board of Nursing standards, as well as Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and budgetary specifications.
- Promote professional growth and development by meeting mandatory and continuing education requirements and serving as preceptor and mentor to less experienced staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program; or a documented degree plan and timeframe to complete a BSN.
- For Magnet‑designated or Magnet‑pursuing hospitals, a minimum of a BSN is required at the time of hire or promotion.
- Current Texas state license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing.
- Certification in Basic Life Support.
- Professional certification in a clinical area or management preferred.
- Additional certifications may be required based on discipline or unit requirements.
Skills:
- Three (3) or more years of experience in a clinical area of practice.
- Minimum of one (1) year in a supervisory or management role.
- For a Clinical Manager II position, an additional two (2) years of supervisory or management experience (total three years).
