The Berry Center is seeking reliable and knowledgeable part‑time catering servers to support our Food & Beverage Department during catered events. We hold catered events for District events, non‑profit events, and non‑district events, both corporate and non‑corporate. We also cater for CFISD sporting events in our press box, as well as offer in‑school catering for our district schools.

Qualifications
  • Retain some knowledge of the daily processes of working in a catering/banquet setting.
  • Some experience in a catering/banquet serving role such as a restaurant, hotel, event center, or event venue preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Texas Food Handlers Certified. Copy of certificate is required before starting date. Ability to comply with food handling procedures established and maintains sanitation standards at or above level set by the department.
  • Attend and pass the Harris County Sanitation Certification Class required by departmental guidelines before starting date. If already taken, a copy of the certificate is required.
Notice To Trs Retirees

Terms Of Employment

This is a part‑time temporary assignment, however, the length of the temporary assignment will be determined based on project needs.

Pay

$15/hour

Essential Functions
  • Read and comprehend the basic information listed on a Banquet Event Order.
  • Able to interpret the information on the BEO to translate into what equipment is needed.
  • Carry out all serving tasks required during a banquet within a given timeframe.
  • Open to working all the needs of the catering department, set‑up, serving, bussing station, break‑down, dishwasher, etc.
  • Notify supervisor when everyday catering supplies are running low.
  • Follow all Food Handling procedures to ensure proper food safety for our guests.
  • Able to continue to serve/work in a fast paced, potentially high stress environment.
  • Properly handle catering equipment with care to ensure all our equipment stays presentable.
  • Maintain open and friendly attitude with fellow employees as well as our guests. Providing exceptional customer service is mandatory.
  • Work closely with fellow catering staff as well as kitchen staff to all remain on the same page.
  • Properly clean and store catering equipment to ensure our work areas remain organized and all equipment can be accounted for.
  • Open to traveling to district schools which order in‑school catering to carry out our catering responsibilities, to include driving district own vehicles.
  • Basic knowledge of how to operate a washer/dryer.
  • Maintain a ‘TEAM’ mentality, supporting the rest of the team in times of need.
  • Able to work mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform job duties for extended periods of time. Including standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, etc.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 30lbs.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager of Concessions.

  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and maintain physical stamina.
  • Standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, reaching, walking up/down stairs/ramps/ladders is required.

  • A provided ‘Berry Center’ collared shirt, ‘Berry Center’ t‑shirt, or a black formal button up long sleeve shirt with black pants and black slip resistant closed toe shoes.
