Memorial Hermann Endoscopy Center Cypress is Hiring an Endoscopy Technician
The Endoscopy Technician supports the clinical care team by assisting with gastrointestinal procedures, preparing and turning over procedure rooms, maintaining endoscopic equipment and supplies, and performing high-level disinfection of endoscopic instruments. This role is critical to ensuring patient safety, regulatory compliance, and efficient clinical operations. The Endoscopy Technician works under the direction of the Registered Nurse and physician, delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate care in alignment with USPI standards, Joint Commission requirements, and facility policies.
Responsibilities- Assist physicians and nursing staff during gastrointestinal procedures, including patient preparation, positioning, transport, and intra-procedure support.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary clinical environment in accordance with infection prevention standards and facility policy.
- Perform high-level disinfection (HLD) and sterilization of endoscopic equipment, following manufacturer instructions for use (IFUs), regulatory standards, and organizational policies.
- Prepare, stock, and organize procedure rooms and endoscopy suites, ensuring availability and functionality of all required equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Complete room turnover and cleaning between procedures, ensuring timely readiness for subsequent cases.
- Assist with specimen handling, labeling, and documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policy.
- Verify specimen identification with the physician and safely transfer specimens to the circulating Registered Nurse, maintaining chain-of-custody standards.
- Inspect, clean, store, and maintain endoscopy equipment, reporting any defects or malfunctions promptly.
- Comply with infection control standards, OSHA regulations, HIPAA requirements, and Joint Commission guidelines.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff education, safety drills, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation and logs related to equipment cleaning, high-level disinfection, and sterilization processes.
- High School Diploma/GED
- 2+ years’ experience in established endoscopy center
- Must have working knowledge of standard Gastroenterology procedures
