Job DescriptionPURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Part-time Assistant II, Sonography Lab is responsible for routine lab preparation duties and assisting students in lab. May be responsible for tracking laboratory equipment and supplies. Will assess and elevate lab issues as needed. Activities involve a variety of routine tasks and many non-routine tasks that require independent judgment to resolve issues.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Ensures proper supplies and safety procedures during this time
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of general or echocardiography protocols
- Ability to operate all DMS lab/ultrasound equipment
- Ability to assist students with sonography or echocardiography scanning skills
- Must be computer literate
- Safety record and safety consciousness
- Flexible and creative to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work with a diverse group of faculty and staff
- Effective communication skills
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
WORK SCHEDULE AND
CONDITIONS:
- Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled office and/or laboratory environment with exposure to safety hazards typical in a laboratory (working with chemicals, moving equipment, etc.)
- Safety protocol must be strictly followed at all times
- Work schedule is flexible around student class schedule and includes evenings and Saturdays
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of two semesters of course and clinical experiences within Sonography and/or Echocardiography programs
Hourly Pay Rate is $15.60
