Medical Assistant I (Bilingual Vietnamese/English) – GI Alliance
GI Alliance is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant I who is bilingual Vietnamese/English. The role involves both clinical and administrative responsibilities, assisting physicians with patient care, handling clerical tasks, and ensuring a smooth patient experience.
Responsibilities- Fulfills patient‑care responsibilities such as checking schedules, organizing patient flow, accompanying patients to exam rooms, assisting with transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exams, collecting patient history, checking vital signs, performing screenings per provider guidelines, assisting providers, charting, phone triage, medication administration, relaying instructions, answering calls, and verifying prescriptions.
- Fulfills clerical duties including sending/receiving medical records, obtaining lab/X‑ray reports, completing requisitions, scheduling appointments, patient check‑in and check‑out, verifying insurance coverage and demographics, and updating charts.
- Fulfills organizational duties such as respecting patient rights, responding to emergency codes, and reporting issues to the supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Education:
High school diploma or GED, medical‑assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a college course in medical assisting. - Experience:
Minimum one year recent experience as a medical assistant in a medical facility, and/or documented externship in a medical office. Experience in a Gastroenterology practice preferred. - Level I Status:
Entry level (1‑4 years) or more than 4 years with supervision.
- Knowledge of health care field and EMR systems.
- Skill in performing medical‑assistance tasks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to share patient education.
- Ability to learn and retain patient‑care practices.
- Professional and pleasant image.
- Planning, prioritizing, and completing delegated tasks.
- Multi‑tasking ability.
- Compassion and caring in interactions.
