Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university;
- Valid teaching certificate in dance;
- Successful completion of student teaching/internship or alternative certification program (ACP);
- Strong communication skills;
- Demonstrates skills in supporting, motivating, and cooperating with students, parents, teachers, and administrators;
- Knowledge of TDEA and dance competition rules/guidelines;
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction;
- Demonstrate ability to develop and maintain a large, successful dance/dance team program in a public school setting;
- Head Directors must have a minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience in dance or dance team in the public school setting.
Probationary/Term
Contract:
187 days
Pay Grade T60 (Teacher Classification) as approved by the Board of Trustees
Additional stipend as approved
Essential Functions- Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective teaching and learning;
- Recruit and retain students in the dance/drill team program;
- Prepare students for successful individual auditions and competitions;
- Collaborate with building fine arts staff;
- Maintain emotional control under stress;
- Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior;
- Maintain confidentiality;
- Work frequent prolonged and irregular hours;
- Choreograph and prepare team and ensemble routines for successful performances and competitions;
- Head Directors will be expected to mentor and train assistant director(s) when appropriate;
- Head Directors will manage the budget, fundraising, and equipment inventory;
- Head Directors will work with booster club (where applicable) to implement approved goals;
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

Frequent, prolonged standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. - Motion:
Frequent walking and dancing. - Lifting:
Regular moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds); may lift and move dance equipment, props, etc. - Environment:
Frequent exposure to sun, heat, cold, and will be expected to work outside. Frequent exposure to noise. - Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent travel and frequent travel by school bus.
