The Project Engineer (PE) position at Murray Company is a critical entry point into construction project management. Our PEs play a vital role in the success of each project, working under senior project managers and field leaders within our Southern California division, specializing in underground / wet utility projects. The role provides business and administrative support to facilitate planning and coordination of activities, ensuring project goals are achieved within time and budget constraints.
Location:
Cypress, CA with anticipated travel to designated project sites in and around the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area.
- Assist the Project Manager in planning work schedules, determining manpower levels, and arranging assignment of project personnel.
- Coordinate project personnel activities to ensure the project progresses on schedule and within the prescribed budget.
- Advise the Project Manager on potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties and aid in resolving them as needed.
- Compose and/or edit letters, memos, reports, and procedures.
- Oversee and/or process day‑to‑day administrative items per supervisor authorization.
- Prepare special reports, studies, and statistical analyses per supervisor request—generally requiring research, development, and/or data interpretation with minimal instruction or supervision.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, or a similar field of study; or prior field and craft experience.
- Prior experience or a strong interest in underground site utilities (wet side), earthwork, excavation, and shoring construction projects is a major plus.
- Proficiency in Excel and general computer literacy.
- Exposure to construction-based software is preferred.
- Experience with Revit, Navisworks, and/or Autodesk Build / Procore is a plus.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to read printed and digital documents.
- Must be able to climb ladders, access and egress trenches and/or attic spaces and/or confined spaces.
- Requires hearing ability to communicate in noisy environments.
- Must be able to recognize alarms, signals, and verbal instructions.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
- Ability to grasp, handle, and manipulate small objects.
$70,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
