Job Description

Plan, organize, and manage the operations and activities of the college student equity and achievement services, including oversight of college programs for disproportionately impacted student communities.

Oversee the development, interpretation, and implementation of multiple Student Success Mandates, policies and procedures related to Student Success and Support Programs (SSSP), Student Equity, and Guided Pathways, and coordinate and monitor program budget development for the college’s Integrated Student Success Program Plans.

Provide leadership and vision for campus Student Equity and Success and Support Programs, such as Guided Pathways, and other related initiatives, projects, programs, or services, including resource development and personnel management, in accordance with laws, regulations, district policy and collective bargaining agreements.

Engage with district and college personnel to coordinate student success initiatives, develop and implement innovative student services delivery approaches, ensure accountability for Student Success and Support, Student Equity, and Guided Pathways reporting, and collaborate with the Director of Institutional Research on data analysis related to student success outcomes.

Collaborate closely with student/academic support programs—including the Promise Program, Dual Enrollment, Program Mapper, and other pathway programs—to ensure effective delivery of student success and support services and maximize potential state funding.

Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and managers to establish and implement a vision for the college’s equity plan and align all Guided Pathways work through an equity‑minded perspective.

Develop and prepare annual preliminary budgets for assigned programs, monitor and control expenditures, and direct preparation and maintenance of detailed reports and records concerning program operations.

Administer and direct various phases of the onboarding process, evaluating effectiveness and improving procedures.

Create and facilitate outreach activities and serve as a liaison with community agencies, high schools, universities, and industry to promote program enrollment and effectiveness.

Develop publications related to Student Equity and Success, Guided Pathways, and other student development services.

Maintain communication with district and college administrators, faculty, and staff to resolve conflicts and coordinate program activities.

Train, supervise, evaluate, and direct assigned personnel; participate in selection and hiring processes.

Plan and arrange staff development programs for faculty and staff and provide orientation for new employees.

Organize, attend, or chair administrative and staff meetings as required; serve on committees and special projects; coordinate programs and services with other district and college personnel.

Maintain current knowledge of instructional methods, technology, and emerging tools relevant to assigned programs, and apply them to perform duties efficiently.

Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of students and staff.

Provide leadership to increase the diversity of faculty and staff, address student achievement gaps, and create a welcoming, inclusive work and educational environment.

Assist and promote growth and success of a diverse population of students and employees through interculturally competent and equity‑minded management and leadership abilities, with experience in working with African Americans, Latinx, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, and other disproportionately impacted groups.
