Responsibilities- Teach Court Reporting classes for credit and non-credit courses to a diverse student population, covering credentialling, speed mastery, and related fields.
- Participate in curriculum development and serve on department, division, college, and district committees as necessary to maintain and improve the instructional program; engage in relevant professional development activities.
- Participate in co-curricular activities, including planning, implementing, and teaching special programs designed to support student success.
- Contribute to the formulation of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and the SLO assessment cycle.
- Maintain formal office and campus hours; attend department and division meetings.
- Maintain current knowledge of instructional methods and new technologies pertinent to the areas of assignment; learn and apply emerging technologies and advances (e.g., computer software applications) as necessary.
- Teach scheduled classes and perform related duties as assigned, including timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities; comply with district, college, and division policies.
- Instruct and assist in the growth and success of a diverse student population through careful preparation of course materials, effective teaching methodologies, and informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions.
- Develop culturally relevant course content, culturally responsive pedagogical techniques, and effective practices for engaging students who are diverse and/or historically underserved, with experience working with African American, Latinx, Native American, Pacific Islander and other disproportionately impacted students.
- Work cooperatively with staff and students.
- Evening and/or weekend assignments may be required as part of the regular contract.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher AND two years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment;
- OR any associate degree AND six years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment;
- OR possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area;
- OR the equivalent, where equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment, and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District Equivalency Committee.

The applicant must be able to demonstrate how these factors relate to the need for equity minded practices within the classroom.
Desirable Qualifications- Demonstrated experience with stenography emphasizing accuracy and the ability to instruct students in software usage.
- Demonstrated ability to teach court reporting software with emphasis on transcript preparation.
- Demonstrated knowledge in English, Legal and Medical terminology with a mastery of grammar, punctuation, vocabulary and spelling.
- Demonstrated understanding of modern reporting methods using realtime.
- Demonstrated teaching ability and experience in a Court Reporting program.
- Demonstrated experience with stenotype machines, computer aided transcription software, and updated technologies related to Court Reporting.
- Demonstrated focus on ethical standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
- Ability to counsel students in the certification standards for the Certified Shorthand Reporters license and/or a Registered Professional Reporter’s license.
- Relevant professional experience and involvement with professional associations.
- Preferred:
Familiarization with Court Reporting licensing requirements.

All degrees and coursework used to satisfy the required minimum qualifications must be submitted and from accredited postsecondary institutions. Evaluations of foreign degrees and/or coursework are required.
WorkingConditions
Salary Range: $85,541 - $128,379 Annually
Special Instructions Summary- Initial salary placement will be determined by the Office of Human Resources in accordance with the faculty collective bargaining agreement and is not negotiable.
